High Strength Structural Bolt DIN 6914/ISO 7412
Product Information
Product Overview
High Strength Structural Bolts to DIN 6914 and ISO 7412 are heavy hexagon-head bolts developed for high-strength structural steel connections. They have a larger width across flats than conventional hex bolts, providing a substantial bearing surface for installation and compatibility with structural bolting assemblies.
The bolts are commonly known as heavy hex structural bolts, structural hex bolts, or HV structural bolts in European construction and fastening applications.
DIN 6914 specifies the dimensional characteristics of high-strength hexagon bolts with large widths across flats. ISO 7412 covers the corresponding metric structural bolt design, while the European structural bolting system has subsequently been developed under EN 14399-4 for HV assemblies.
DIN 6914 is therefore encountered frequently in drawings, catalogs, and purchasing specifications, but project requirements should be checked against the applicable current structural bolting standard and assembly specification.
These bolts are primarily used for structural steelwork, including steel frames, bridges, industrial structures, heavy machinery structures, and other applications where high-strength bolted joints are required.
They are generally specified together with compatible structural nuts and washers rather than treated as an ordinary general-purpose hex bolt.
