DIN 976-1A Threaded Rods
Product Information
Product Overview
DIN 976-1A Threaded Rods are metric stud bolts covered by DIN 976-1:2016-09, the German standard for metric-thread stud bolts. Form A uses an RL-type thread end according to DIN EN ISO 4753, while Form B uses a CH-type thread end. The RL and CH thread-end configurations provide standardized end geometries for DIN 976-1 stud bolts and distinguish Form A from Form B in engineering drawings and mechanical assemblies.
DIN 976-1A covers a range of steel property classes, including 4.8, 5.6, 5.8, 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9 within the applicable size range. Higher classes such as 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9 provide progressively higher strength levels for demanding mechanical applications. Under ISO 898-1, the property-class designation corresponds to nominal tensile strength levels of 800 MPa for 8.8, 1,000 MPa for 10.9 and 1,200 MPa for 12.9, with specified minimum tensile strengths defined separately by the standard.
Material selection further determines the suitability of DIN 976-1A stud bolts for different environments. Carbon steel is commonly used for general-purpose applications, while alloy steel may be selected for higher-strength property classes where greater hardenability and mechanical performance are required. DIN 976-1 also covers stainless steel, including A2-70 and A4-70 within the applicable size range, as well as non-ferrous metals such as copper-zinc alloys and aluminium alloys. A2 is widely used for general corrosion-resistant applications, while A4 is generally selected where greater resistance to chloride-containing or more aggressive environments is required.
