Chipboard Screws
Product Information
Product Overview
Chipboard screws, also known as particle board screws, are self-tapping wood screws developed for fastening chipboard and other engineered wood materials. They typically feature a relatively slender shank, coarse threads and a sharp point that allows the screw to form its own thread in the board. Common configurations include countersunk and raised countersunk heads, with cross recess, Pozidriv or hexalobular drives available depending on the product design.
Chipboard screws are commonly used in furniture assembly, cabinet manufacturing, shelving, interior woodworking, joinery and general construction involving engineered wood panels. They can be used to connect chipboard to chipboard or to secure wood-based panels to timber and other compatible substrates. Their coarse thread geometry is particularly relevant to materials where efficient thread engagement and resistance to withdrawal are important.
DIN 7505 is a recognized reference standard for particle board screws and covers specific dimensional configurations, including different head forms. However, commercial chipboard screws are also produced in configurations that vary by drive type, head design, thread geometry, point style and dimensions. For this reason, the applicable standard should be confirmed against the specific product configuration rather than assumed from the general product name.
