Countersunk Head Drive Rivets
Product Information
Product Overview
Countersunk Head Drive Rivets are drive-type rivets with a conical countersunk head that seats into a prepared countersink, leaving the installed head substantially flush with the surrounding surface. The rivet body contains a drive pin that is struck into the body during installation, expanding the lower portion of the rivet and locking the joined components from one accessible side.
This product is specified by GB/T 15855.2-1995, whose official English title is Countersunk head drive rivets. The standard covers nominal diameters of 3, 4, 5, 6 and 6.4 mm and is specifically distinguished from GB/T 15855.1-1995 Flat round head drive rivets, which uses a projecting flat-round head rather than a countersunk head.
The countersunk head is the key functional distinction of this rivet type. It allows the finished joint to maintain a relatively smooth external surface, making the product appropriate where a protruding rivet head could interfere with adjacent components, clearance, appearance or surface contact. Common industry terms include countersunk drive rivets, countersunk drive pin rivets, flush head drive rivets, and hammer drive rivets with countersunk heads.
The applicable technical conditions are covered by GB/T 15855.3-1995, which applies to both flat round head and countersunk drive rivets. The standard specifies rivet body materials including aluminum alloy and low-carbon steel, with drive pins available in steel wire or 2Cr13 stainless steel depending on the specified configuration.
