Flat Round Head Drive Rivets
Product Information
Product Overview
Flat Round Head Drive Rivets are one-piece drive-type rivets consisting of a rivet body and a preassembled drive pin. The pin is struck into the rivet body during installation, expanding the lower portion of the rivet inside the predrilled hole and forming a permanent mechanical joint from one accessible side. The protruding flat round head remains on the visible side of the assembly.
The product is standardized in China under GB/T 15855.1-1995, which specifies flat round head drive rivets in nominal diameters of 3, 4, 5, 6 and 6.4 mm. The standard covers applications requiring one-sided riveting, including vehicles, ships, aviation equipment, machinery, electrical equipment and steel or wood furniture.
These rivets are also commonly described as drive pin rivets, hammer drive rivets, or hammer-in rivets, although terminology varies by market. Their defining feature is the driven expansion mechanism rather than the pull-mandrel mechanism used by blind rivets. The head style distinguishes this version from flush or countersunk drive rivets covered by other standards.
When selecting the rivet, the primary considerations are nominal diameter, rivet length relative to the joint thickness, hole condition, and compatibility between the rivet material and the assembled materials.
