Flat Head Round Body Rivet Nuts
Product Information
Product Overview
Flat head round body rivet nuts are blind threaded inserts with a smooth cylindrical body and a low-profile flat flange head. The round body passes through a drilled hole in the panel; the flat head remains on the accessible side and spreads clamp load across the surrounding sheet material. The head sits slightly above the panel surface rather than flush with it, which gives the insert a larger bearing area than a countersunk design.
The body of this product is smooth, without knurling or ribs. It is installed in a hole that has been drilled or punched to a controlled diameter, and the smooth outer wall of the body deforms against the blind side of the panel during setting to lock the insert in place. Because there is no knurl to bite into the hole wall, the smooth-body design is typically specified where the hole diameter is held to a consistent tolerance.
Installation is completed entirely from the accessible side of the workpiece. The rivet nut is threaded onto the setting tool mandrel, inserted into the prepared hole, and the tool is actuated to collapse the body against the rear face of the panel. No welding, tapping, or rear-side access is needed.
These inserts are used in electrical enclosures, control cabinets, HVAC housings, automotive body panels, and fabricated sheet metal assemblies where a serviceable threaded connection is required in material too thin to tap. In catalogues and on purchase orders, they also appear as flat head rivet nuts, round body threaded inserts, or flat head blind rivet nuts. The key selection factors are the grip range for the panel thickness, the hole diameter required by the body, and the thread size for the mating screw.
